Bike Month kicked off on Monday May 30, with the return of Bike Day! Over 350 people joined us in-person to celebrate cycling in the City, grab a free t-shirt, and share some morning snacks. Hamilton Bike Share was also there with some $5 credits, New Hope Bike was there offering free tune-ups and HSR was promoting their summer activities.
While Bike Day looked a little different this year, operating as a bike-thru to allow for social distancing, it was a great opportunity to gather in support of cycling. Thanks to Mohawk College for hosting their own Bike Day at their Fennell Campus and for McMaster University for organizing a group ride to City Hall.
Thanks to Hamiltonians who throughout the month hosted Glow Rides, Slow-Rolls and Soul Rolls to get people out in their saddle. Thanks also to our community partners: Hamilton Bike Share and Everyone Rides Initiatives, New Hope Community Bikes, Cycle Hamilton, Green Venture, Green Communities Canada for hosting events including a Bike in Movie Night, a bicycle infrastructure tour, School Street events and the Launch Event for Everyone Rides Initiative at Gage Park.
Finally a huge thanks to all of you, whether you were riding up the Keddy Trail with the Hamilton Cycling Committee, taking pictures for Ride and Seek or counting cyclists for the Pedal Poll.
Keep riding, and happy cycling!
