City of Hamilton named a Top 100 Employer in Hamilton-Niagara
HAMILTON, ON – November 23, 2016 – For the second year in a row, the City of Hamilton has been named one of 15 Top Employers in Hamilton-Niagara as part of Canada’s Top 100 Employers campaign.
The selection committee highlighted some of the City of Hamilton’s attributes:
- In-house training initiatives, apprenticeship/skilled trade programs, online training and tuition subsidies for courses at outside institutions
- Focus on diversity and inclusivity
- Retirement planning assistance and the stability of a defined benefit pension plan
- Wellness activities to encourage employees to make health and wellness a focus
- Employee support of local charitable organizations
The submission responded to questions ranging from employee benefits and compensation to the City’s commitment to green initiatives and employee wellness.
“This recognition really underscores that the City is on the right track to attract and retain the top professionals in the country. It makes us all very proud to be acknowledged among this region’s top employers,” said Chris Murray, City Manager.
