Early Morning Fire on Beach Road
HAMILTON, ON – March 8, 2016 – The Hamilton Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 105 Beach Road at approximately 3:07 am this morning. This is a two storey commercial building formerly occupied as a club house for a motorcycle club. Upon arrival, crews reported heavy smoke and fire conditions on the second floor with flames venting out the east side windows. The lone occupant of the building had safely evacuated.
Due to the close proximity of the neighbouring home to the east, firefighters immediately evacuated the home. Firefighters worked quickly to protect the home and a multiple alarm was dispatched to the location to bring additional resources to the scene. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after an aggressive interior attack and were successful in preventing the spread of fire to the neighbouring home.
Firefighters contained the fire to the second floor and damage is estimated at approximately $75,000. The suspected cause of the fire was electrical and there were no injuries reported at the scene.
