Play it smart when tobogganing in Hamilton
HAMILTON, ON – December 21, 2016 – The City of Hamilton is reminding residents that there are four city hills permitted for tobogganing enthusiasts to use during this winter season. The hills officially open on Friday, December 23, 2016 which aligns with the start of the school boards’ winter break.
"Tis the season when families turn their thoughts to tobogganing,” said Mayor Fred Eisenberger, City of Hamilton. “I encourage you to have fun and play safe on our designated hills this year.”
Permitted hills
- Chedoke Golf Course - 563 Aberdeen Avenue, Hamilton
- King’s Forest Golf Course - 100 Greenhill Avenue, Hamilton
- Garth & Stonechurch Reservoir - 1515 Garth Street, Hamilton
- Waterdown Memorial Park - 200 Hamilton Street, Waterdown
On June 22, 2016, Hamilton City Council approved continuation of a pilot program which allows for particular hills to be used for tobogganing. The city encourages all participants to wear a helmet to avoid risk of injury and to follow the posted safety tips. Tobogganing is allowed at designated hills during daylight hours only.
