Statement by Mayor Eisenberger on Hamilton moving into Stage 3
HAMILTON, ON - Today, Premier Ford announced that the City of Hamilton will move into Stage 3 of the provincial government's reopening framework on Friday, July 24.
Stage 3 allows most businesses and public spaces to reopen, with public health and workplace safety restrictions in place. Stage 3 also allows for an increase in gathering limits to a maximum of 50 people indoors and a maximum of 100 people outdoors, with physical distancing in place. As we work on reopening additional services and amenities in line with Provincial guidelines, I will once again ask our community to have patience as we work to make sure our reopening remains safe and successful as we do not want to undo the great progress we have made so far.
Entering into Stage 3 does not mean our fight against this virus is over. Please continue to follow public health recommendations including practicing physical distancing, washing your hands often and staying home when you are sick. As of today, all residents must also wear a mask or face covering in indoor public spaces. This is to continue to minimize the risk of community transmission and to help keep everyone safe.
Thank you again to our Public Health and Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) teams, community partners, City staff and everyone in Hamilton for continuing to work together to slow the advance of the virus in our community.
